The Bald Prima Donna Irony

The Bald Prima Donna Irony

Coincidence

Mr. and Mrs. Martin, through a series of coincidences realize that they are married with a child. Ironically, Mary reveals that they are not who they say they are and don’t have a child together.

Knock Knock.

The Fire Chief is at the door the fourth time it is heard being knocked upon. He admits that he was hiding during the third knock, but ironically did not knock the first two times when Mrs. Smith went to answer it, even though he was standing outside the door for 45 minutes.

Dinner

Mr. and Mrs. Martin have come to the Smiths' home in order to have dinner with them. Ironically, the Smiths have already eaten, and the martins are not fed throughout the play.

Standing

Mrs. Smith holds the Fire Chief in high standing. However, ironically enough, when she finds out that he and Mary love one another, she will not stand for it. This shows her belief in class segregation.

Poetry

The Fire Chief recites stories and poems to the group for their enjoyment. Ironically, none of them make any sense at all.
