We know that when the switch is closed, the magnetic field is developed in the wire coil and in the rod as well. As a result, the magnetic flux increases in the rod and in the ring. Then, an induced emf produces its magnetic field which opposes the original magnetic field in the opposite direction and a magnetic repulsion occurs due to which the ring flies into the air.
