Hydrogenation reaction occurs when alkene or alkyne reacts with hydrogen in presence of a catalyst. Here, Ethylene reacts with Hydrogen and produce Ethane. Double bond of Ethylene breaks down to a single bond and two Hydrogen atoms are added to two Carbons of Ethylene respectively and produce Ethane which can be seen below. This is an example of addition reaction of unsaturated hydrocarbons (Alkene and Alkynes).
