Here, Pentene reacts with Hydrogen (in presence of a catalyst) and give rise to Pentane as product. This is called hydrogenation reaction where double bond of Alkene (or Alkyne) breaks down to single bond and two H atoms are added to the respective two Carbon atoms which were associated with the double bond. The reaction can be written as below for better understanding of where Hydrogen atoms are added. This is an example of addition reaction.
