Not all of all skeletal muscles are attached to bones: skeletal muscles are also attached to cartilage, and ligaments. Some muscles of the head -- obicularis oris, buccinator , depressor anguli oris, and the mentalis are partially attached to skin. In addition, the semimebranosus is partially attached to the medial meniscus in the knee joint.
