Chapter 4 - Section 4.6 - Cryptography - Exercises - Page 304: 2

Answer

a) WXST TSPPYXMSR b) NOJK KJGGPODJI c) QHAR RABBYHCAJ

Work Step by Step

a) We need to replace each letter by the letter four places later in the alphabet. Thus S becomes W, T becomes X, and so on. The resulting message is WXST TSPPYXMSR. b) We need to replace each letter by the letter 21th places later in the alphabet with modulus. Thus S becomes N, T becomes O, and so on. The resulting message is NOJK KJGGPODJI c) This is one is harder than others in this case we multiply the p (p is number of alphabet which is from 0-25) with 17 and then add 22 in that answer, and next we will take modulus of that answer. Thus S become Q and T become H and so on. The resulting message will become QHAR RABBYHCAJ
