The musical Sister Carrie (Māsa Kerija) by Raimonds Pauls (music) and Jānis Peters (lyrics) premiered at the Riga State Operetta Theatre in 1978, with Mirdza Zīvere as Carrie.[19]

The Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin produced the world premiere of Robert Aldridge and Herschel Garfein's operatic adaptation of the book in October 2016.[20]
