Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 Book 1 Irony

Irony of Michael's powers

Michael feels trapped because he had this amazing power his entire life but was never able to use it. Ironically, he was always the main target of bullying so that fuels his discontent even more. He never felt like his power was a blessing, it felt more like a curse until the time came where his life depended on it.

Dr. Hatch's irony

Dr. Hatch is nothing more than a manipulative, ordinary man. He has no special powers like the Glows but he is their leader and the one these kids answer to. His main power is his manipulation and without the Glows he will be powerless. He approaches them as if they were his family but always has their main weakness, that being Nichelle, at his side to subdue them.

Nichelle's irony

Nichelle is a Glow who can drain others of their powers. She is Dr. Hatch's main puppet and is always ready to torture her kind at his command. The irony of Nichelle's power is that she has to be with the other Glows to use it; without them she is what she despises the most-ordinary. Nichelle is certain that Dr. Hatch will always help her and return her loyalty but, expectedly, at the first instance she proves to be not useful to him he abandons her.
