Love in the Time of Cholera is the fourth novel from Gabriel Garcia Marquez, originally published in 1985 in Spanish. It was first translated to English by Edith Grossman and this translation was published in 1988 by Alfred A. Knopf. The novel is the first novel published by Marquez after winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982. It is somewhat of a departure in genre from his previous works, which were known for their magical realism.
