Lesser Known Monsters of the 21st Century Irony

Fear

The simulation authority knows that people need to reconnect with their dead, but it fears possible court cases. Ironically, the reconnection suggested by the narrator is done through meditation without interfering with the laid procedures. However, the authority still fears non-existent rules that could put them in trouble.

A positive prospect

The most stimulating irony is in the story "Twenty Hours," where men have a positive prospect that after eliminating their current wives, they will receive a splendid reprint of a new woman. The fiction of printing a new wife offers a reality of life that it is better to keep what you have than anticipate something better that you have not to seem. After the men kill their wives expecting more beautiful and well-behaved reprints, the irony is that new wives are no better.

Acquaintances

The irony is that sometimes it is hard to notice that a friend can harm you. In the story "Climbing Nation," the climber's friends end his life. The cause of the killing is unclear in the story, but the unnamed woman discovers that the climber was killed by the people he considered loyal friends.
