Ella Enchanted

Ella Enchanted Analysis

Ella Enchanted” is a fairy tale that was written by Gail Carson Levine. It is not a secret for anyone that this book is another fairy tale about Cinderella. Despite the well-known plot, this book contains many interesting things in comparison with the classical fairy tale. Firstly, this is a multidimensional illustration of the postulate of the correct formulation of desires and consequences of their fulfillment. Even the most beautiful desire can bring many troubles with the unconditional execution or realization for a long time lapse. Secondly, this book is about a responsibility and assessment of the possible consequences of the all characters’ actions. Thirdly, it is actually a hymn to fighting and resisting even in the most desperate situations. However, these things are possible if you try to say something serious about this book. In fact, you will experience delight, which will remain even after the last page of the book. This beautiful fairy tale will give you pleasure.

The book perfectly relaxes, carries away, bewitches and enchants. It is such a cozy book, with which it is nice to spend some evenings, lying on a sofa with a blanket and tea. The fairy tale does not have philosophies, except for the morals that are customary for the fairy tales and some basic ideas. Here are a handsome prince and a beautiful Cinderella! Here is an eternal struggle between good and evil! It does not tire, on the contrary – you will want something else along these lines. The book is advisable for those people who do not hate retellings based on familiar narrative devices.

However, what is wonderful in this book are dialogues between characters. Irony and wit, expressed in the most common phrases, are not peculiar to children’s books. This adulthood together with its atmospheric and general feeling of something genuinely kind wins the readers’ attention.

We can say that the book is rather didactic. Readers can see the fight between good and evil. Bad people enjoy the naivety and trust of good people. However, the main idea is to show that the influence and charms of other people can be very strong, but your will and confrontation must be stronger. The main heroine Ella is a positive character, who teaches children and adults to be brave, have an own point of view and achieve the goals. Her mother proves that sincerity and kindness help people to cope with troubles. Well, Prince Charmont teaches all the readers to be strong and protect women, because they are so sensitive.

Although this tale is too naïve and kind for the adult audience, but it makes us dream. Reading Levine's fairy tale, we begin to dream of justice and honesty, love and mutual understanding. This tale makes everyone believe in the miracle and good, which people want to have. Well, the small readers are taught to be obedient, honest and respect their parents. This book has its magic and dreams come true here. If you want to feel this magic, you need to become a part of this story and feel all the experiences of the main characters.
