Eclipse Background

Eclipse Background

Eclipse is the third installment of the Twilight Saga, written by Stephanie Meyer. The book was released originally in hardcover on August 7, 2007 by Little, Brown Publishing Company.

New Moon received favorable critical reception, quickly selling out its initial print run of one million copies after being released. It reached #1 on the New York Times bestseller list as well as USA Today's 150 Bestsellers. It ranked in the first position on Publishers Weekly's list of "Bestselling Hardcover Backlist Children's Books" in 2008.

The novel's plot immediately follows the events of New Moon continuing the story of the human, vampire, and werewolf love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob, whilst also preparing for war against Victoria and her band of newly made vampires.

Meyer commented that the cover of Eclipse, a broken red ribbon, represents Bella’s choice between her friendship with Jacob and her love for Edward. Critics have praised this book for exploring more mature and darker themes.
