Andy hates black students and bullies them because of their color and inferiority.

    The reader realizes that Liam comes from a wealthier family than Andy, but he is down to earth and interacts freely with black students such as Drew and Jordan. On the contrary, Andy is a bully and hates black American students because they come from less privileged families. However, Liam has a unique character because he appreciates the efforts of black students, and he shares similar aspirations and interests with them. When Liam hosts a thanksgiving party, he invites Drew and Jordan, among other blacks, to attend his celebration.

    Mr. Roche is a white teacher at Riverdale, but he depicts a unique character admirable to readers. Racism against black Americans is rampant in the school and its environs, but Mr. Roche advocates for diversity and embracing people the way they are. Notably, Mr. Roche encourages Drew to act as an ambassador of the low-funded school which visits Riverdale. Therefore, Mr. Roche believes in giving people equal opportunities regardless of their race.
