    Deciding What's Important

    Individual Writing

    Objective:

    Students will explore the characters of Jonah, Angela and Newt through a creative writing exercise.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.11-12.1

    Structure:

    Ask students to imagine they are in the situation that Jonah, Angela, and Newt find themselves in in chapter 86. Hearing a loud bang, each of them grabs one or two objects and scramble into the hallway, bumping in each other. Once they realize that everything is fine, the three compare the things they chose to bring with them when they thought their lives were in danger.
