The narrator
The narrator is a seven-year-old boy. He tells the story of his childhood and about one Christmas in particular. He provides a rather detailed picture of a peculiar Christmas from his childhood. This period of his life is filled with joy but it seems that he perceives life through the eyes of his friend.
The boy’s friend
She is an elderly woman, who lives with her relatives and has a strong belief in Christmas. She is happy to bake pies for almost unknown people with the only purpose – to make their Christmas special. She is a woman with many dreams that have not turned true, but she tries to find meaning in this life, and this meaning she acquires during Christmas.
