“You can’t possibly expect me to wear that.”
Sung expects all quiz bowl players to wear varsity jackets during the Nationals, but the narrator has different plans. The narrator wants to use the money he has stolen from his parents to have maximum fun in Indianapolis. Therefore, the narrator shows defiance to Sung’s demands.
“Nah. It’s just Sung being Sung. You’ve gotta respect that.”
Damien is not happy with how the narrator responds to Sung. The narrator is surprised at how Damien quickly follows Sung’s orders and convinces everyone else to follow suit. Since the narrator has a crash on Damien, he agrees to respect Damien’s commands.
“Everyone needs to take this seriously.”
Mr. Philip is the coach for the school’s quiz bowl team. Mr. Philip is dedicated to ensuring the school wins. Since the coach knows his team's potential, he requests everyone to be serious with the practice because they must win the Indianapolis competition.
