Zero Days Irony

Zero Days Irony

The irony of Jack asking Cole to surrender to the police

When Jack suspects Cole is part of the secretive syndicate that killed Gabe, she asks him to surrender to the police without hesitation. Ironically, Jack is on a hideout to evade arrest by the police as well. The reader finds Jack's suggestion about Cole's arrest paradoxical. Jack and Cole are criminals running away from the police.

Jack works for the police as a penetration tester.

When police finally arrest Jack, they recruit her as a penetration tester instead of putting her behind bars. The irony in this context is that Jack is a dangerous hacker and cybercriminal, but the police want her to hack the systems of other organizations for them. Therefore, police demonstrate that they are the greatest danger because instead of providing security, they secretly infringe on the privacy of other organizations.

The irony of Gabe’s death

Jack believes that Cole's arrest will reveal the true killer of Gabe. After conducting her secret investigation for several days, Jack gets some hints that Cole might be a member of the team that killed Gabe. Ironically, Cole mysteriously dies in prison, killing Jack's hopes of knowing the truth about the people who killed her husband. Consequently, Gabe's death remains a mystery.
