Vampire Academy Metaphors and Similes

Vampire Academy Metaphors and Similes

Wild animal (Metaphor)

The moment, when Dimitri Belikov (Russian Dhampir) meets Rose and Lisa in the beginning of the novel, his task is to return girls in the academy after their escape. But during the first meeting, Rose becomes to resist and attacks Dmitri. He says that she is a “wild animal”. But actually he doesn’t mean that she is a wolf or another animal. She doesn’t want to return school and decides to fight with him, showing her aggressiveness and disaffection. Rose’s character and inner power is revealed by this phrase.

Tiredness (Simile)

The students’ life is a cheerful and at the same time a rather difficult period. Students hate these examinations and sleepless nights. Rose always tries to be a model student. But “one day Rose goes through the rest of her classes like a zombie”. It means that she is very tired and exhausted. The relaxation is necessary for both her brain and her body. She looks like a walking dead, which emphasizes all the difficulties she is going through.

Doll’s face (Simile)

Lisa is also a pretty girl with a blond hair and green eyes. “With plump little cheeks and blond ringlets, she looks like a porcelain doll”. This comparison shows that she has beautiful and unusual appearance. Not every girl can boast about as wonderful beauty as Lisa has.
