True West

Introduction

True West is a play by American playwright Sam Shepard. Like most of his works it is inspired by myths of American life and popular culture. The play is a more traditional narrative than most of the plays that Shepard has written.

Some critics consider it the third of a Family Trilogy which includes Curse of the Starving Class (1976) and Buried Child (1979).[1] Others consider it part of a quintet which includes Fool for Love (1983) and A Lie of the Mind (1985).[2]
