Three Women Background

Three Women Background

Three Women is a nonfictional biographical text written by the American writer and journalist Lisa Taddeo. It was published the 9th of July 2019 by Avid Reader Press and Simon Schuster. The story spans over 320 pages, featuring three different women and their stories, as well as Taddeo’s thoughts in between the lines. Taddeo expressed that this might be one of the first books correctly describing desire – one of the strongest feelings we have- in a modern-day America.

Featuring three different women in three very different circumstances, Taddeo begins with explaining the life of Lina. She has two children and is marries, yet her relationship is falling apart as a result of lack of lust. She therefore begins seeking it elsewhere. Maggie is also presented, a girl that carries on an affair with her older teacher. And lastly, Sloane, who is married with a man that enjoys sharing her with other men.

The stories are based on Taddeo’s reports over the span of many years, and Taddeo’s name as a short story writer and a journalist has given her a name for herself, which made the book anticipated. It reflects on how the past can choose and ultimately influence the present and how we decide to live out lives, both sensing the similarities between these women as well as the differences.
