Dynamic Characteristics of Madame Loisel 8th Grade

Guy de Maupassant, born on August 5, 1850, is the author of the famous short story, “The Necklace” written in 1888. Guy de Maupassant was a French author in the 19-century, most famously known for his many short stories, such as “Boule de suif” (“Ball of Fat”) and “La Parure” (“The Necklace”). The Necklace tells the story of Madame Loisel and her dream of living of prosperous life in Paris (1884), and the lengths she went to achieve this fantasy which led to the demise of her and her husband and a life spent in crippling debt. While attempting to achieve this fantasy, she lost an extremely expensive necklace that they decided to replace, sending them into a life of poverty while trying to pay back the many loans they took. Due to this, Madame Loisel learned of her wrongs and a life of poverty, attempting to pay off her debt. Due to the events Madame Loisel faces, she is a dynamic character based on her greediness, ungratefulness, and humbleness.
