Nicholas Garringan
Nicholas Garringan was an adventurous young man living in the late 20th century. He was a Scotsman and graduated from the medical University of Edinburgh. He was talented, smart, and handsome and a lot of women found him charming. Nicholas becomes entangled with the general that overthrows Uganda, as he gets an inside sight on how it is working with a dictator.
General Idi Amin
General Idi Amin is a man that is very good with words. He manages to spin his lies for his best benefit, and when he takes over Uganda, a lot of people hope that he will be able to better the country, because of the things he says. However, he is violent and impulsive, which is how he decides to punish his rebels and anyone that would dare stand against him.
Kay
Kay is one of Idi Amin’s three wives, though she is treated badly because their son is epileptic. Garringan helps Kay treat their son, and the two quickly form a relationship where they have sex. She becomes pregnant with Nicholas’ son, and panics, knowing that it is a crime she might be killed for. When she opts for an abortion, she is killed by Amin’s men when they find her.
