Kind of Activity:
Students will understand the literary concept of a foil.
Common Core Standards:
This task should be completed in groups of 3-4. Each group is given a flip-chart which is divided vertically into two sides, one labeled "Hassan" and one labeled "Amir."
In their groups, students should discuss the differences between the two characters, listing these qualities on the corresponding side of the flip-chart. Emphasize that although the groups might discuss similarities between the characters as well, only contrasting qualities should be recorded in the chart.
