"One day I asked him:
- If Islam is what you say, why are the roads crowded with the poor and the ignorant?"
Qindil begins to question the corruption and poverty that exists in his homeland, the Land of Islam. Here he is unconvinced of the support that Islam used to bring, yet now, after several bouts of manipulating power, fails to help those in need. He doubts that Islam creates a perfect society, so instead begins his journey to find perfection in the Land of Gebel.
"He who believes in his mind is rich in everything."
While Qindil journeys on his quest, he passes through many rich and vast lands, while remaining isolated. In doing so, he begins to reflect on what values in his life are important to him. Qindil has an epiphany that financial riches do not bring happiness and good fortune and that he should instead focus on finding love and happiness to enrich his mind.
"Complaint is the common language of mankind."
By the end of his journey, Qindil has developed a far more cynical view of the world around him and begins to question whether everyone else is actually happy or instead if it is just a mask they present to the world. He astutely observes that moaning and groaning about your current situation appears to be far more commonplace than actually taking action to improve your situation.
