H.D.'s poetry can be compared to the works of other writers in the Imagist movement, such as Ezra Pound, William Carlos Williams, and Richard Adlington. She was heavily influenced by Greek mythology and the writing of Sappho, which provide rich source-texts for her poems. Contemporary poets whose work can be compared to H.D.'s include Robert Creeley, Susan Howe, and Denise Levertov, among many others.
