Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will conduct a field experiment to more directly experience the social phenomena on which Ionesco comments in the play.

    Students will research psychology to gain a deeper understanding of one possible frame through which to view The Chairs.

    Students will distill important themes from the play and engage with these themes through the diverse media of visual art, digital presentations, live role play, and creative writing.
