Chapter 23 - Think and Explain - Page 449-450: 79

Answer

Assuming the materials are the same, the thicker filament has less electrical resistance. When hooked up to the same voltage source as a skinny lamp filament, the thicker filament draws more current.

Work Step by Step

We apply Ohm's Law. $$Current = \frac{voltage}{resistance}$$ Lower resistance means more current. This is stated on pages 433-434.
