Answer

No. of possible isomers are four. The name of the isomers are: 2-pentene, 3-methyl-1-butene, 2-methyl-1-butene and 2-methyl-2-butene. Structure for each compound is written below:

Work Step by Step

First, we have to write the molecular formula of the compound $C_{5}H_{10}$. The name of the molecule is 1-pentene. Now, we can see that a double bond is present in between no. 1 and no. 2 Carbon. If we put the double bond in between no.2 and no. 3 Carbon instead of no. 1 and no. 2 Carbon, the molecular formula would be same but the structure will be different. So, the new molecule is an isomer of the parent molecule. Name of the new molecule is 2-pentene. Now, if we write 4 Carbon in a straight chain and one methyl group is added as a substitute and one double bond is present, the molecular formula would be same as previous. In this way, we can put double bond in between no. 1 and no. 2 Carbon and put the substitute on no. 2 or no. 3 position to get another two isomers 2-methyl-1-butene and 3-methyl-1-butene respectively. Also, if we put the double bond in between no. 2 and no 3 Carbon and put the substitute in no.2 position we can get another isomer 2-methyl-2-butene.
