Chapter 46 - Major Ecosystems of the Biosphere - Assess - Page 904: 9

Answer

a.

Work Step by Step

The tropical rain forest is the biome that is most abundant with life. Rain falls much of the year here, so plant life blossoms year-round. One thing plants may find lacking in the tropical rain forest is the amount of sunlight they receive. The tropical rain forest contains layers of trees. The topmost layer of leaves form the canopy. Below the canopy lies the understory. The forest floor contains the lowest layer of plant life. Plants compete with one another for the scarce sunlight.
