This eventually decreases the risk of autoimmune disorders. The suppression of effector T-cell proliferation is mediated by Treg cells. In the areas of proper sanitation, the risk of parasitic infection is rare. Thus, the number of Treg cells will be less and the self-reactive lymphocyte inhibition is affected. The chances of autoimmune disease are greatly enhanced due to the presence of less self-reactive lymphocytes.
