After an RNA molecule is created, a capping enzyme adds a 5'-cap and a 3'-poly-A tail to the product. mRNA translation begins with the start codon AUG, which is interpreted to the amino acid methionine. The start codon is located at the downstream end of the untranslated 5' region.
