Exocrine glands can be classified in the following way: A. Simple --gland has a single unbranched duct--gastric glands of stomach B. Compound--gland has branching ducts i. Tubular : Ducts and secretory portions are of uniform diameter--small intestine ii. Acinar:Secretory cells form dilated sacs ( acini or alveoli.)--mammary glands iii.Tubulo-acinar: there are secretory cells in both ducts and acini--salivary glands
