The trapezius are two dorsal muscle masses one on each side of the vertebral column. The cephalic portion of the muscles are attached to the occipital bone and the vertebrae of the neck . Both masses descend to the shoulder and attach to the spine of the scapula on each side . The caudad section tapers to form an overall double triangle that is attached to the spines of all the thoracic vertebrae.
