Given expression is- = $4 \cos^{2} 30^{\circ}$ + $2 \sin 30^{\circ}$ = $4 (\frac{\sqrt 3}{2})^{2} + 2(\frac{1}{2})$ ( substituting for exact values of trigonometric functions) = $4(\frac{3}{4}) + 1$ = 3+1 = 4
