Chapter 10 - Geometry - 10.7 Beyond Euclidean Geometry - Exercise Set 10.7 - Page 677: 36

Answer

The objects like ferns, leaves of deciduous trees and human circulatory systems are naturally self-similar, that is, any small portion of that object shows the same pattern as the whole object. These natural objects are not perfectly self-similar and have a bit of randomness. When done with the help of computers, these self-similar images are made by repeatedly subtracting an image within the image. This process is called iteration. So, the nature produces its many forms through a combination of both iteration and randomness.
