Chapter 6 - Section 6.2 - Adding and Subtracting Rational Expressions - Vocabulary, Readiness & Video Check - Page 353: 9

Answer

It can be easy to forget the negative.

Work Step by Step

When subtracting, we must remember to distribute the negative to all terms in the numerator of the rational expression. Remembering to do this can be difficult, for unlike most expressions where a number must be distributed, parentheses are not present to remind us to distribute. Thus, you must be especially careful.
