Shattering Glass Irony

Rob

Rob is an ironic character because he kills the person he raises from nothing to fame. Rob uses his influence to raise Simon's profile, from a nerd to the most popular kid. Out of Rob's influence, Simon becomes very influential, and he uses his power of knowledge to learn dark secrets of Rob. Simon discovers several secrets about Rob. The disturbing secret is that Rob was molested by his father, who is serving a jail term. Simon understands why Rob is violent, controlling, and dangerous because he inherited such traits from his father. Simon abuses his influence when he reveals dark secrets of Rob. In retaliation, Rob kills Simon.

Parents

When it comes to child protection and safety, parents are normally in the first line to ensure their children are secure. Ironically, abusive parents raise the narrator, Rob, and Simon in. The narrator is a murderer, and he admits it because he puts the blame on his parents who neglected him and pushed him to engage in bad behaviors.

Lance

Lance is the second most popular kid in school, and he wants to challenge the authority of Rob, the leader of the school gang. One of the students Lance hates and despises most is Simon. Ironically, out of the blue, Simon gains power courtesy of Rob's influence and starts to command Lance around.
