Dog-Woman describes the Civil War in England in 1649. She says no one is particularly impacted. She and other Royalists assume the King will be victorious. However, the situation becomes worrisome when no other foreign powers align themselves with the King. The Puritan forces gain momentum and eventually put King Charles on trial. Dog-Woman and now 19-year-old Jordan come to London to watch the trial. When they arrive at their house, it is on fire, set by the local minister Preacher Scroggs and their neighbor, Firebrace. They say they have seized the house because of Dog-Woman’s political and religious alignment with the King....
