Amy
Amy is the protagonist of the story who has cerebral palsy, despite having difficulty in speaking and walking, she tries her best to fit in with her classmates at her high school. In her senior year, she gets two student aid. She becomes close to one of the aides, Matthew. They both become very close friends, when Amy finds out that she is pregnant, depression hits her but, Matthew's constant help and emotional support gives her new confidence and soon she realizes that she loves Matthew.
Matthew
Matthew is the main character of the story and the love interest of Amy. Matthew has an obsessive-compulsive disorder due to this, he finds it difficult to make friends, but when he meets Amy, he gets attracted to her because her thoughts are so similar to him. He eventually becomes very close to her. Matthew stands for Amy and helps her during her pregnancy and gives her emotional support. He encourages her to do good in her studies. Matthew confesses his love for Amy at the end of the story.
