Revolution in Our Time Background

Revolution in Our Time is a non-fiction work originally published on November 8, 2021 by Kekla Magoon. The piece gives an account of the Black Panther Party, a group of African American human rights fighters and revolutionaries. The book details the struggles that Black people living in the United States have faced, and the struggles that they continue to face. Magoon includes context from the arrival of Africans in the Americas to the Black Lives Matter movement to strengthen her argument that the Black Panther Party is an under-recognized and repressed group of revolutionary socialists.

Born in 1980, Kekla Magoon is an American author who has wrote several young adult novels, such as The Rock and the River and How It Went Down. The Rock and the River was nominated for the NAACP Image Award, and she has received the Margaret Edwards Award for her literary contributions.
