Red, White and Royal Blue Background

Red, White and Royal Blue is a romantic novel by American author Casey McQuiston. The cover art was designed by American illustrator Colleen Reinhart. Published in 2019 by St. Martin's Griffin and Macmillan, the novel explores the romantic relationship between a President's son and a royal Prince.

Alex Claremont is the son of an American President, while Prince Henry is a member of the British royal family. After a highly publicized incident at a royal wedding, the two men will have to play a charade in front of the media to dispel any damaging rumors. In time, the men develop romantic feelings toward one another. They will have to juggle between their public political roles and their private relationship to ensure everything doesn't implode.

McQuiston started developing the novel during the 2016 Presidential election, that saw the first ever woman win a presidential nomination by one of the two major political parties in America. Upon release, the novel was critically acclaimed for the representation of the LGBTQ community. The character development was praised for being emotionally convincing.

Amazon Studios acquired the film rights of the novel in 2019. It will be produced by Berlanti Productions and directed by Matthew Lopez. Red, White and Royal Blue won the 2019 Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Romance, 2020 ALA Alex Award. It was nominated for the 2019 Bisexual Book Awards.
