Consequences of War

War is an easy way to tell the story; since it is centered around a battle. It doesn’t only focus on the war itself, as very little time is actually spent on politics. Instead, the lives of the people in war and how the war changes them, forcing the worst of each person the come out, is more important. As Taylor states near the end of the movie: the war might be over, but it will forever continue in the people that were in it.

Death

Death is an interesting concept, as wars are generally speaking, trying to kill as many as possible of the opposite force. This was very interesting, as in the platoon Taylor is put in, they also try killing civilians and each other. This would not have happened, had a normal group of people gone around with each other, as we do each and every day in our daily lives. But because they had seen and participated in war, it was as if a terrible attack gene had been activated in these men, letting them kill everyone they wanted dead with ease.

Remembrance of History

History is important, and so is remembering what has happened in order to stop it from reoccurring. Historical movies such as this one reveal the gory but brutally honest truths of what has happened and what will happen during a war. Therefore, it is an important movie, not only showing what has happened to the world but also the lone soldier inside himself, as he is supposed to return home to civilization and become a functioning part of society again.
