    One of the qualities Barrie portrays in his child characters is forgetfulness. What role does this quality play, both in the story and thematically?

    The more time they spend in Neverland, the more Wendy and her brothers forget about their lives before, and about their 'real' parents. Wendy is most concerned about this, and tries to drill the facts about their real lives into her brother's heads. For Wendy, remembering keeps her connected, and makes her want to return home.
