My World of the Unknown Summary

My World of the Unknown Summary

The narrator for this story is the wife of a government official whose unfulfilled marriage leaves her available to a djinn spirit who comes in the form of a serpent. The serpent is a female entity who comes with a set of rules and conditions, but also with the promise of enlightenment and fulfillment. She can't resist the spirit, so instead she pours out her soul, telling the serpent about her frustrations.

The snake responds with lavish love, especially sexual love. Suddenly, the woman feels younger, healthier, and stronger. The snake teaches the wife that they can travel inter-dimensionally through the universe. She realizes that by the snakes encouragement, she can experiment with sexuality without her husband present, and she discovers her capacity to orgasm, and more importantly to her, the pleasure comes within the context of adventure, excitement, and personal growth. She has been sexually awakened to herself by the snake.

Then the wife experiences regret, and she asks her husband to board up the holes in the house to prevent the snake from returning. Although the snake is female in nature, the wife yearns deeply for the snake's return, and she contemplates new ways of encountering sexual adventure (like cheating on her husband), but instead, she learns to play with the snake in a teasing way, covering the holes playful, but still letting the snake in.
