Breast Stories is a collection of three works by Mahasweta Devi: “Draupadi” (first published in the collection Agnigarbha in 1978), “Stanadayini” (“Breast-giver”) (first published in the collection Stanadayini o Onnanno in 1979), and “Choli ke Pichhe” (“Behind the Bodice”) (first published in the collection Mahasweta Devi-r Panchasti Golpo in 1996). Devi, who was also a social activist, focuses in these works on female subalterns (members of marginalized, often invisible groups) and tells the stories of these ordinary, "little" people that often go untold.
