Every classroom is different, but the intimate perspective on the historical experience of the Logan family may be appealing to many students. These lessons and activities provide many different approaches to the text; select those that best suit the strengths and interests of your own class. Also note that some of the material may be upsetting to seventh-grade students: although Cassie as a character is younger than they are, her experiences may be more raw and violent than those of many students. Be attentive to the needs of your particular class in relation to the text.
