I Have Some Questions for You Metaphors and Similes

An old song (Simile)

Bodie likens the road to Granby High School to an old song. However, the driver taking her to Granby did not know that she was a student in the school twenty years ago. Bodie says, "I didn't explain that I'd gone to Granby, that I knew the route we were traveling like an old song." Bodie is uncomfortable sharing too much information about herself with the driver because the two are strangers.

Party favors (Simile)

The author compares the garbage bags to party favors. The narrator says, "At night, there were owls. Sometimes, if the dumpsters hadn't been latched, black bears would take full garbage bags, drag them across campus to open like party favors." As Bodie is taking around the campus tour by her driver, she recalls the nights when bears could mess up the compound.

Bleach (simile)

When Bodie arrives at Granby, she is given a smelly apartment, and she compares the bad odor to bleach. Bodie says, "The whole place smelled like bleach." The simile shows the bad state of staff quarters, but Bodie has no choice but to deal with the situation.
