Black Hole Irony

Passing out in front of the girl he likes

In the first issue, the narrator is introduces as he is in his biology class, having an attractive woman as his partner. The narrator analyzes the other boys in his class and mentions how they are trying to impress the girls by acting though and unaffected. He claims not to be like them, cutting with confidence into the frog. Ironically, in that moment, he passes out and he becomes the butt of jokes for the rest of the kids in the class.

Wanting someone with the bug

One of the ironic elements in the novel is the idea that the people with the bug still remains desirable. Even though some people know the ones they like have contacted the disease, they still remain attracted to them and would do anything to have them, even risk getting infected.

Getting back with the one responsible

One of the ironic elements in the story is the idea that Chris decided to get back with Rob, the one who infected her with the bug. Even though at first Chris was mad at Rob for infecting her, she soon realized that he was the only one who could help her in the situation so the two became close.
