Every human being loves being comfortable. Whether it's napping on the good couch or wearing sweatpants on Sunday, comfort is bliss. But what if I said that I help to save the world while being comfortable? It might sound unbelievable, but fortunately it is true.
My clothes are made from recycled plastic bottles and re-purposed thread. For people who know little about the apparel industry (myself included), that might not make sense. Dirtball Fashion found a way to make jeans, shirts, hoodies, and even socks from recycled bottles and thread. I buy a large portion of my clothing from their online store. Sitting here, typing this, I realize how little and insignificant this sounds. Yet for me, it's anything but. Whether I'm walking through the halls in school, rehearsing with my theater group, or going for a run with friends, I feel like I am doing my part.
What I'm wearing reminds me that our society needs to be as environmentally aware as possible. To me, that's something worth smiling about every day. Sure, I drive and use paper, but at all times I'm wearing something that helps one of the most important causes in the world today: sustainable living.
