Act IV, Scene 1

The French Lords carry out their plan: gathered with other soldiers at a bridge, they find Parolles musing on how he can make excuses for spending so much time searching for the drum. As he considers more and more outlandish lies, the Lord and their fellow soldiers attack and blindfold him. Parolles is sure they are the enemy and, almost immediately, he volunteers to betray the Florentines. The soldiers, speaking fake Italian as part of their pretense of being from Siena, say that they will take him to their General.
